During The Chaos, Another Week of Actions for You

Aloha Reader,

Thanks to all who showed up for the Biennial Democratic Party Elections on Wednesday. It was great to see that Indivisibles made up a third of the room. And thank you, Tina Marie, for leading the quest to make the Party, at least in Hawai'i County, worth joining.

“No More Forever Wars?” Really?

This week, Trump, Hegseth, and Rubio more or less proved that Netanyahu suckered them into attacking Iran with absolutely no plan. No plan for personnel evacuations, no plan for Iran's future, no legality, and no coordination with Iranian opposition leaders or US allies. Their explanations have been one ad-lib after another, each excuse contradicting the previous one. In addition, Trump & his supporters continue to speak out of both sides of their mouths, calling it a war over and over again, and then denying that it is a war (because the Constitution says only Congress can declare war).

Meanwhile, the scale and cost of this war are enormous and underreported. Last year, Trump railed against the cost of helping Ukraine defend itself against Russia. Our assistance to Ukraine from 2022 to 2024 averaged $0.1 billion per day. Now it's estimated that Trump is spending $1 billion per day bombing Iran. That's 10x the scale of defending Ukraine against Russia.

The Republican-controlled Congress has abdicated its constitutional responsibility for declaring war and has again knelt to their orange leader by voting against the war powers resolution. Instead of asking Congress to declare war, as constitutionally required, Trump will be asking a supplemental appropriation of $50 Billion to the Department of Defense to pay for this war. Don't let them approve it.

Trump-Epstein Coverup

The bombs and killings have not pushed the Trump-Epstein cover-up out of the news. On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that in addition to the 3 million Epstein files the Department of Justice (DOJ) hasn't released, they have removed another 47,635 Epstein files that were previously released.

On Friday, one week after the Guardian reported that there were "witness statements" with allegations missing that Trump raped and assaulted a 14-year-old, the DOJ was shamed into releasing them. It's another example of persistence working. Let's keep up the pressure. Join us for "No Dictators," the largest mass mobilization our country will ever see.

In Hawai'i, we call the protest "No Dictators" to honor the historical significance of the Hawaiian monarchy. On the US mainland, it's "No Kings 3".

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Five events are scheduled on the Big Island. For Kona, we will gather on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 4-5 pm on Queen Kaʻahumanu south of Henry Street. Register here.

TAKE ACTION: Help Indivisible make this the largest protest event in US history. Invite three friends who have not attended before to show up with you or at their own local events. Stand up together against this increasingly reckless, desperate regime.

Puppy-Killer Kristi Noem is out, sort of

PARTIAL WIN: On Thursday, Kristi Noem (aka “ICE Barbie”), was removed as Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary, one day after her disastrous testimony before Congress. Noem fell not because of DHS' record of murdering Americans and their systematic violation of the 1st, 4th, 5th, 10th, and 14th Amendments. It was her telling Congress that Trump approved her grift in a bogus $200 million contract.

Here too, persistent pressure worked, but let's stay focused. Noem’s intended successor, Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin, is another Trump lackey, just clumsier with Instagram. The policies that have caused so much harm to immigrant communities: mass detention, deportation without due process, family separation, and the dismantling of the appeals process, are Trump Regime policies, not just Noem's.

TAKE ACTION: Keep up the pressure on Congress to refuse funding for DHS until it reforms Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to eliminate racial profiling, protect safe spaces, and restore due process. Click here to make your voice heard.

Indivisible Hawaiʻi's Public Policy Team is on Fire 🔥🔥

WIN: Of the 52 bills we have been supporting, 39 bills are moving forward so far. Four of the dead bills have companion bills, meaning identical bills were introduced in the other chamber of the Legislature, and those are still moving forward. Here's the breakdown of success so far (by issue):

  • 14 of 14 Migrant Rights
  • 9 of 11 Working Families tax revenue/credit bills (including 4 of 5 tax revenue bills)
  • 9 of 12 Good Government (and one dead one has a live companion bill)
  • 3 of 7 Gun Safety (but 2 dead ones have live companion bills)
  • 4 of 8 Healthcare Access (including gender-affirming care, and one dead bill has a live companion bill).

Now we’re taking extra action to maintain momentum. On Thursday, March 19th, 2026, we will join our partners at the State Capitol for a Lobby Day of public events and meetings with key lawmakers. So far, these groups have signed up:

  • "Fund Our Future" - the ten organizations in the Hawai'i Tax Fairness Coalition are appearing to ensure that the legislature closes looming gaps in the state budget and helps working families afford the cost of living through targeted tax credits.
  • "Campaign for Immigrant Justice," led by the Hawai'i Coalition for Immigrant Rights (HCIR), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Hawai'i, and The Legal Clinic, will ensure we advance Migrant Rights protections.
  • "Protect Democracy, Move Forward," by Indivisible Hawai'i, will rally support for good-government, gun-safety, and healthcare-access bills.

TAKE ACTION: Sign up to participate in Lobby Day at the Capitol on March 19th, 2026, and review the details. If you'd like to coordinate travel, reply to this email with the subject line March 19th.

Pop-Up Protests Are Going Strong

Have something to say about the unconstitutional war in Iran? This week, our Pop-Up Rally will bring attention to the unauthorized war in Iran. Once again, Trump has overstepped his presidential boundaries, and our representatives aren't doing anything to hold him accountable.

TAKE ACTION: Joining us on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 4 pm to 5:30 pm.

  • Please arrive by 3:45 pm.
  • Meet in the Kona Safeway parking lot near Baskin Robbins, and we'll walk up as a group to Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway and Henry St.
  • Kona Indivisible will provide several large signs; feel free to bring your own!
  • You might want to bring a hat and water as it could be hot and sunny.
  • If you’re interested in participating, contact Ellen lnlubrano53@gmail.com, or send her a text at 503-784-6192.

Aloha Reader, What a storm! Its unusual size and intensity have affected all the Hawaiian Islands. We hope you and your loved ones are safe as we weather this together. #ClimateChangeIsReal On the surface, this week’s news looks weird. The massive, chaotic, illegal, unpopular, unsuccessful, inflationary, lethal war on Iran continues with no objective, strategy, or rationale. What does Iran do in response? Close the Strait of Hormuz to strangle the world oil market. What does the...

Aloha Reader, Imagine an enormous stone, rigid and unmoving, yet packed deep inside with the untapped force of real Democracy. Now picture someone standing before it with a hammer, chipping away, bit by bit, trying to break it open and unleash the change sealed within. Hi! I’m Tina Marie, one of the leaders at KIND. I’m also one of the few people standing at the stone of Democracy, hammer in hand, chipping away to crack it open and bring forward stronger, more progressive leadership. I’d like...

Aloha Reader, Friday night, Trump and Netanyahu launched a war against Iran with no obvious provocation. In his SOTU speech, TACO accused Iran of having hitherto-unknown missiles threatening the US. (Remember the 2003 claims of the hitherto-unknown Iraqi nuclear program? Been there, done that.) On Thursday, Trump sent his unappointed negotiators, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, to meet with Iran in Geneva, ostensibly seeking a nuclear deal like the JCPOA, the very agreement Trump...
