Mahalo nui to all who showed up for the Rise-Up Rally to Guarantee Our Freedoms on Sunday! A great way to cap the Rise Up and Sing Out concert - and impressive turnout for a pop-up on short notice. These 100-person rallies have a great vibe - a perfect size to meet and talk with new friends. Two Newsletters. Everything You Need to Know.KIND was a pioneer among Indivisible chapters in Hawai'i - one of the first to build a local website and launch a regular newsletter. We've always believed that an informed community is an engaged one. But our emails were getting very long, and we had a bigger vision. Fast forward to today - we did a full rebuild of the Indivisible Hawai'i Statewide Network (IHSN) website - which led to two newsletters. IHSN covers national and state news every Sunday. KIND lands in your inbox every Tuesday with Hawai'i County and local news. Together, they give you the full picture - from Kona to Honolulu to Congress. Our ask: Commit to reading both. With that, you'll have the truthful, complete picture of what's happening - and your engagement will make a difference. Find recent IHSN publications here. CD1 Race: Ed Case Is HidingOur top priority statewide this summer is to help State Senator Jarrett Keohokalole win the primary for Congressional District 1 (CD1) against Ed Case. We applaud Civil Beat for covering the race, though the article fell short in showing the harm Ed Case has done to Hawai'i. Read This: KIND's own Sam Guckenheimer posted a response that cuts to the heart of what the article missed about Ed Case's record - and what Keohokalole has actually delivered. Read it here. This primary needs much more exposure, because Ed Case is hiding. Case tried some town halls in January, but he didn't like having to answer his constituents' direct questions. Now he is refusing to debate Keohokalole, his primary opponent, claiming he has to stay in Washington DC right up until the Primary. Hawai'i showed great leadership in passing Act 11 (SB 2471) to get dark money out of politics. Keohokalole was a co-sponsor of the bill. Now Ed Case, the state's greatest beneficiary of dark money, won't face his voters, and the media are not calling him out. That's where we come in. PostcardingIn Kona, we don't vote in CD1, but we can help drive turnout for the Democratic Primary on August 8. Hawai'i does not have close general elections, like swing states. The Democratic Primary winner is typically the final winner. So, we are actively writing postcards to get persuadable voters out to vote in CD1. We expect these to be exceptionally fruitful, for two reasons.
TAKE ACTION: We're meeting this Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Gypsea Gelato in Kealakekua from 1:30-3:00 pm. Hope to see you there! Sign up here. As always, we'll provide postcards, voter lists, scripts, and instructions. You bring the stamps, your writing muscle, and your favorite pens. We always appreciate your generous donation of postcard stamps or money towards postage, so that all postcard writers are welcome (including those with less financial capacity). This way, we can all find ways to help get out the vote. And please consider supporting this local business by buying something to eat or drink. Special mahalo to Mary and Bob S., Mary R. and Maryellen for hosting. Future Events

Already got your own postcards and just need addresses? You can get addresses emailed to you here - choose "Names Only", or you can get addresses directly from postcarding organizations. Postcard StampsStock up on postcard stamps before July 12 when the price increases to $0.65. Postcard Stamps hold their value forever, just like Forever Stamps. The easiest way to buy lots of stamps is at USPS.com. Avoid any scam website claiming to pass along large discounts (they sell counterfeit stamps). Meet the Candidates EventAlong with the Hawai'i County Democratic Party, we are co-sponsoring an event celebrating our democracy on July 12. Larry Dupio will bring the music. We are inviting candidates from multiple primary races to come meet with us. MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 1:00-4:00 pm, at the Old Kona Airport -Makaeo County Pavilion. Hope to see you at Gypsea Gelato! Sam & The Leadership Team |
We help the people of Kailua-Kona take political actions that promote inclusion, tolerance, and fairness.
Aloha Reader, It's primary election season. Ballots arrive July 21st, and the elections office needs to receive them by August 8th. Sunday's statewide newsletter covered how to prepare for disinformation and dirty tricks. Today, we share something more hopeful: the candidates are coming to us - and we're thrilled to have a stretch of back-to-back events to prove it. Here's everything on the calendar this week and beyond. First, a quick reminder - this is the newsletter for our Kona Chapter....
Aloha Reader, A little over a year ago, Kona Indivisible launched a website and newsletter with a simple goal: keep our community informed and ready to act. What we didn't expect was everyone else saying, "We want that, too!" — and by everyone, we mean chapter leaders and the statewide network leadership across all four islands. So we got to work. KIND set out to build something bigger: a communications overhaul that gives every Indivisible chapter in Hawai'i a home, a voice, and a shared...
Aloha Reader, From statehouse news to street-level action, there's a lot happening in Kona this week — and we want you in the middle of all of it. State News On Thursday, the Lieutenant Governor (LG) race became much more interesting. State House Representative Della Au Belatti announced that she withdrew from the CD1 Congressional Primary and entered the statewide Democratic Primary for Lieutenant Governor. We are working with our friends in the Indivisible Hawai'i Statewide Network to give...
