From statehouse news to street-level action, there's a lot happening in Kona this week — and we want you in the middle of all of it. State NewsOn Thursday, the Lieutenant Governor (LG) race became much more interesting. State House Representative Della Au Belatti announced that she withdrew from the CD1 Congressional Primary and entered the statewide Democratic Primary for Lieutenant Governor. We are working with our friends in the Indivisible Hawai'i Statewide Network to give members a chance to compare the candidates. In the meantime, your first opportunity is next Sunday. Della Au Belatti will be joining our monthly member potluck. TAKE ACTION: Meet Della at our Member Potluck on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 4:00-6:30 pm. Register here. Planning Watch Parties for June 14You have probably seen the latest photos of the White House. It's heartbreaking to witness the destruction of the People's house, and a real metaphor for the times we live in. A grotesque outdoor stage is being constructed for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event, so that the most corrupt president in U.S. history can celebrate his 80th birthday on June 14th. In response, Indivisible National, the No Kings Coalition, and the Committee for the First Amendment are trying a new tactic. They have called nationally to make this a time to build community. They are asking Indivisibles to host watch parties for the Rise Up and Sing Out Concert that will counterprogram the Trump UFC event. TAKE ACTION: Watch from home, or better yet, host a watch party and invite friends who are not yet part of Indivisible. You can register your event here. County NewsOn Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 9 am, the County Council will convene in Hilo, and the meeting will also be streamed on Zoom. One of the items on the agenda is Bill 66, which aims to adopt the General Plan 2045. This is long overdue. TAKE ACTION: If you would like to submit written testimony or reserve a Zoom spot for oral testimony, please email "counciltestimony@hawaiicounty.gov" by noon Tuesday. Local HappeningsPostcardingWhat happens to those postcards you write? Voters get them, and we hear about it from friends or on social media. We call them “Postcards To Voters In The Wild” #PTVInTheWild Always remember: your handwritten postcard isn't just a message — it's a warm piece of Aloha that travels all the way from our island community to a voter's mailbox 🌺. StampsA postcard stamp currently costs $0.61, but the price will increase to $0.65 on July 12. Postcard stamps retain their value indefinitely, similar to forever stamps, so we recommend purchasing them before the price increase. Since local post offices often run out, the easiest way to buy a large quantity is through USPS.com. Please note that there are no bulk discounts on stamps; any website claiming to offer significant discounts is likely a scam and may be selling counterfeit stamps. Postcarding PartiesWe’ll provide postcards, voter lists, scripts, and instructions. You bring the stamps, your writing muscle, and your favorite pens. We always appreciate your generous donation of postcard stamps or money toward postage, so that all postcard writers are welcome (including those with limited financial capacity). This way, we can all find ways to help get out the vote. TAKE ACTION:
Postcard at homeCan’t make it to our events? No worries. We’ve got you covered. Pick up a postcard packet at one of our postcard hubs and write at home. More info here. Pop-Up RalliesStand with us! We are holding a pop-up rally this week to make our voices heard. A lot is happening right now, which is exactly why we need to get out there and make our message crystal clear - Trump and his trumpsters must be stopped—no War, No ICE, No Ballroom, No birthday party. Your presence matters.
Looking forward to seeing you at Gypsea Gelato on Thursday, at the rally on Friday, and/or at Kahaluʻu on Sunday 😊 Warmest Aloha, Sam & the leadership team |

Aloha Reader, It's primary election season. Ballots arrive July 21st, and the elections office needs to receive them by August 8th. Sunday's statewide newsletter covered how to prepare for disinformation and dirty tricks. Today, we share something more hopeful: the candidates are coming to us - and we're thrilled to have a stretch of back-to-back events to prove it. Here's everything on the calendar this week and beyond. First, a quick reminder - this is the newsletter for our Kona Chapter....
Aloha Reader, Mahalo nui to all who showed up for the Rise-Up Rally to Guarantee Our Freedoms on Sunday! A great way to cap the Rise Up and Sing Out concert - and impressive turnout for a pop-up on short notice. These 100-person rallies have a great vibe - a perfect size to meet and talk with new friends. Guarantee Our Freedoms Pop-Up 😊 Two Newsletters. Everything You Need to Know. Aloha Reader, A little over a year ago, Kona Indivisible launched a website and newsletter with a simple goal: keep our community informed and ready to act. What we didn't expect was everyone else saying, "We want that, too!" — and by everyone, we mean chapter leaders and the statewide network leadership across all four islands. So we got to work. KIND set out to build something bigger: a communications overhaul that gives every Indivisible chapter in Hawai'i a home, a voice, and a shared...
