Complete and return your ballots this weekOur focus remains on the primary. Ballots are due at the Office of Elections in 11 days, by August 8. If you are sending yours by mail, as opposed to using a drop box, please mail them by August 3. Don't let your family or friends off the hook - have them tell you their plan for voting so you can make sure they vote on time. Find your nearest secure drop box here. As you know, Indivisible Hawai'i Statewide Network has endorsed two candidates in this primary: Della Au Belatti for Lieutenant Governor and Jarrett Keohokalole for Congressional District 1 (urban Honolulu). Both of these races are winnable if voters turn out and return their ballots in time. For races in Hawai'i County, interview recordings are available from the July 12 Meet and Greet. Several candidates have agreed to a pledge that reflects our values. See who signed the pledge on this page. Della v. DerekThe Lieutenant Governor race has become somewhat tense. It's a clear choice between Della, who co-founded the Legislature's Good Government Caucus, and Derek, whose ads and mailings are coming from a dark-money Super PAC. Last week some folks tried to discredit this assertion, so we published detailed evidence. There's no ambiguity. We remain astonished at Derek's hiding. If a candidate does not care to show up when he needs your vote, why should you expect him to care when you need his help? Kona Indivisible stands with candidates who reject dark money - that's why we've scheduled sign waving in Kona in support of Della Au Belatti. 👉 TAKE ACTION: Join fellow KIND members for sign waving in support of Della Au Belatti for Lieutenant Governor - Kona (Hawaiʻi Island), Wednesday, July 29 and Monday, August 3, 4:00-5:00 pm at our usual spot on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway, south of Henry Street, behind the Mormon Temple. Postcard ThursdaysFormer Tribal Judge and US Representative Mary Peltola is running for Senate from Alaska. She is an exceptional candidate, and we're currently writing Get Out the Vote (GOTV) postcards for her. The Senate race in Alaska is very competitive, despite Alaska typically being a red state. Join us every Thursday at Gypsea Gelato in Kealakekua to write GOTV postcards with a fun group of like-minded postcard heroes. If you can't make Thursdays, or prefer to write from home, you can order postcards through the Kona Indivisible (KIND) website. If you don't like to write, you can still help by donating stamps or donating to KIND to support our stamp purchases. 👉 TAKE ACTION: Join the postcard party every Thursday from 1:30-3:00 pm at Gypsea Gelato in Kealakekua. Register. KIND Sunday Social: Postcards and Blue WaveOur next monthly social is Sunday, August 2 at Kahaluʻu Beach Park. Postcarding starts at 3:00 pm, with a potluck some time after 4:00 pm. Our postcarding efforts are now transitioning from the Hawaii primary to our national "blue wave” activities, rallying voters across the country to vote in flippable districts. Register.
