Crunch time. Complete and return your ballots today

Our focus remains on the primary. Ballots are due at the Office of Elections by Saturday, August 8, 7:00 pm. If you are sending yours by mail, please mail them today. If you prefer, vote in person at the Voter Service Center. Don't let your family or friends off the hook - have them tell you their plan for voting so you can make sure they vote too.

As you know, Indivisible Hawai'i Statewide Network has endorsed two candidates in this primary: Della Au Belatti for Lieutenant Governor (LG) and Jarrett Keohokalole for Congressional District 1 (urban Honolulu). Both of these races are winnable if voters turn out and return their ballots in time.

For races in Hawai'i County, interview recordings are available from the July 12 Meet and Greet. Several candidates have agreed to a pledge that reflects our values. See who signed the pledge on this page.

Della v. Derek

This LG race is increasingly about dark money propping up a cardboard cutout. Hawaii News Now reported that the Pacific Resource Partnership (PRP) Super PAC has spent a staggering $2 million supporting Derek Kawakami.

Derek's campaign spending dwarfs Della's campaign (by more than 20x.) Della is running a grassroots "people's" campaign versus a big donor campaign. And all the while, Derek does not show up for his potential voters. How will he treat us as constituents?

Kona Indivisible rejects dark money and stands with candidates who fight for good government - that's why we joined Della on the July 4 parade and have been sign-waving in Kona in her support.

Postcard Thursdays

Join us every Thursday at Gypsea Gelato in Kealakekua to write Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) postcards with a fun group of like-minded postcard heroes. We have a chance to make real changes at the federal and state levels in November. But we have to keep voter enthusiasm up and increase voter turnout across the country.

If you can't make Thursdays, or prefer to write from home, you can order postcards through the Kona Indivisible (KIND) website. Prefer not to write? You can still help by donating stamps or donating to KIND to support our stamp purchases.

Pop-up protest to get out the vote

We've already talked about the August 8 deadline to turn in your ballot - now it's time to take that message to the streets one more time! Join us for one last push before the primary. Mark your calendar for this week's pop-up:

When: Thursday, August 6, from 4:00-5:00 pm
​Where: Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway, south of Henry Street, mauka of the Mormon Temple (our usual rally spot).
